YORK COUNTY, Pa. – An investigation is underway into the death of a York County woman who became ill and died hours after she was taken into custody by probation officers.

The York County Coroner identified the woman as 39 year old Christina Hoober of the 1000 block of Mt. Rose Avenue.

Probation officers had picked up Hoober at the Hotel 6 on Arsenal Road at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday.  Hoober unexpectedly became ill while she was in the officers’ vehicle. The officers immediately took her to the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. Her condition deteriorated several hours after she was admitted and subsequently died.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is scheduled for Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department and York County Detectives are conducting the investigation into Hoober’s death.
