LANCASTER, Pa. – Lancaster County is one of 20 communities nationwide to receive the Gateways for Growth award. Representatives from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce along with the Literacy Council of Lancaster and Lebanon made the announcement on Thursday.

The two organizations will receive specialized research and data collection from the Partnership for a New American Economy which will highlight the positive economic contributions of immigrants in Lancaster County.

“The chamber will be able to use, to identify the needs in our community,” Literacy Council Executive Director Cheryl Hiester said,  “and help employers also understand the talent and the skills that are available in the community through all the nearly 50,000 immigrants and refugees that live in our community.”
