YORK, Pa.-- A contest to see who can pick up the most trash? It was held Saturday at a Reid Menzer Skatepark in York.

The "Pick Up Your Trash and Skate" service event took place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and some riders got pretty creative. The park and surrounding area have been getting dirty lately and were covered in litter. Skaters got together to clean up the mess, with the help of the group Punks For Positivity.

"They had a trash problem and that's what we do in the city of York, we go out every weekend and clean up different areas of the city. Looks like an excellent turnout, they promoted it, we promoted it, and anything that promotes beautification, we're out here to help," said Dustin Hildebrand with Punks For Positivity.

The groups also hope the clean up event will show everyone who uses the park how important it is to keep it clean. Prizes were given out to the skaters who picked up the most trash.

The murals surrounding the skate park were also recently vandalized; artists are working to redo the paintings.
