YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Two adults and a juvenile face charges in a robbery over the weekend outside of the Motel 6, at 323 Arsenal Road, in Manchester Township.

The incident happened at about 10:56 a.m on Sunday. A 20 year old male victim from Mechanicsburg told officers that he had been at the hotel the night before with acquaintances.

The victim, two males, and a female left the motel room and got into a black VW sedan.  The victim sat in the backseat with a juvenile male. The other male was in the front passenger seat. The female was the driver.

While still in the parking lot of the motel, the juvenile began punching the victim about the head and face.  The juvenile then began to choke the victim and demanded that he give him money.  The juvenile then reached into the pocket of the victim and took approximately $600.00 in cash.  The juvenile gave the money to the male in the front seat.  The victim was then allowed to get out of the car and the vehicle drove off.  There was no weapon used in this incident.

The victim suffered facial injuries during the incident.

A Northern York County Regional Police Officer intercepted the car as it was fleeing northbound on I-83.   North York County Regional Police assisted by Newberry Township Polce eventually stopped the vehicle on I-83 in Newberry Township.  The three occupants were taken into custody without incident.

The female driver was identified as 18 year old Mercedes Cannaday, and 21 year old Matthew Gorbea, was identified as the male adult passenger. The backseat passenger was a 16 year old juvenile. All three suspects were from Mechanicsburg.

Charges against Cannaday and Gorbea include, Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property and Simple Assault.

Gorbea also faces an additional charge of providing false identification to law enforcement. The 16 year old was released to Cumberland County Juvenile Probation.  He will be charged with the same offenses as the adults through the York County Juvenile Court System.

Police say their investigation into the incident continues.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at (717) 292-3647.
