TONIGHT at 10: What is PennDOT doing with your personal data?

Last year, the commonwealth of Pennsylvania made over forty million dollars selling your DMV records. That money goes to PennDOT and is used to fund public transportation projects, but where did your data go?

FOX43 followed the trail and found out that your DMV records are being sold to seven different companies, who can then sell that information to other businesses, like insurance companies. Your data might be in safe hands at the start, but once money starts changing hands, it becomes harder and harder to keep track of it.

Tonight on FOX43 News at 10, FOX43 talks to a PennDOT representative about a recent audit of how this data is being used. We also sit with an online security expert to learn just how worried Pennsylvanians should be about this info being sold.
