Cumberland County-The Pennsylvania Game Commission is advising hunters and others using state game lands 305 in South Middleton Township to be observant and extra cautious.
A hiker recently discovered a potentially dangerous situation on one of the trails. An unknown person or persons placed a piece of wood with exposed screws through it, on a trail. The points were exposed and pointed up from the ground. The board was hidden on the trail and appears to have been placed there intentionally and with the intent to cause harm to people, animals, or equipment that came in contact with it.
An investigation is being conducted by Game Commission officers, as well as a sweep for any other devices that may be in the area.
The State Game Lands system is comprised of over one and one half million acres, and is widely used across the state by hikers, bird watchers, as well as hunters and others. The placing of a device like this is a crime and those responsible will be prosecuted.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Southcentral Regional Office at 814 643-1831.
