WEST HEMPFIELD TWP., Lancaster County, Pa. -- On his way to an assignment in Wrightsville, FOX43 Lancaster Bureau Photojournalist Anthony Grove witnessed a tractor trailer driver slamming on his brakes just before the Prospect Road exit of Westbound Route 30 in Lancaster County. The driver of the big rig was trying avoid hitting several dogs that were running loose on the highway. A veteran of many unusual events, Grove also stopped to help.

Soon after exiting his vehicle, Grove spotted two dogs running on the highway. He and several other people who had also stopped, efforted to round up the dogs. One of the passersby managed to capture one of the dogs and place it safety in the FOX43 Xterra's trunk.

The other dog managed to get off the highway, too, and ran into a nearby backyard. Officers on the scene for the crash took custody of the dog Grove helped and discovered it was microchipped.
