YORK, Pa. – Guilty verdicts in the murder trial of Elvin Mateo, Jr., 22 and Durell Cotton, Jr., 20, in the October 15, 2013 murder of Jordan Breeland.  A York County jury took about 2 and a half hours before convicting both men of first degree murder.  The trial began on Tuesday.

Jordan T. Breeland, of East Boundary Avenue found inside a car in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest. Police tried giving him CPR but it didn’t work. Police say the shooting was part of an on going feud between members of the rival Parkside and Southside gangs.

The first degree conviction means a mandatory life sentence for both men. Durell Cotton is also charged a double homicide in June 2015, where two brothers were shot dead. That case has not come to trial.
