EAST MANCHESTER TWP., Pa. -- One person is in custody, and another person is wanted, after an alleged assault Monday evening.

According to Northeastern Regional Police, officers were called around 8:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Gut Road in East Manchester Township, York County.

Upon arrival, they found one man beaten, who needed to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

York County 911 confirmed,  police began searching for the two men, who fled from the scene of the assault to a nearby wooded area. The assailants then attempted to escape by boat on the Susquehanna River.

One suspect fell into the water and had to be rescued, police said. Police continued their search for the second suspect by boat Monday night, but were unable to find him, officers reported.

Police are expected to resume their search Tuesday morning.

The Eagle Fire Company chief did confirm that both the suspects, and the victim involved, are all males.
