YORK, Pa. – York YMCA President and CEO Larry Richardson has requested and been granted administrative leave by the Y’s Board of Directors.
Richardson has headed the York YMCA for past 23 years.
In a statement, the Board of Directors said:
“His decision ensures that the YMCA can remain focused on its mission without distraction.
The YMCA of York and York County Board of Directors is working to place interim CEO services during Richardson’s administrative leave.
The organization will continue with its programs and community services as usual and day-to-day operations will continue without interruption. The YMCA of York is grateful for the support of the community as it continues to focus on its mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
The YMCA will not be commenting on Richardson’s legal case and understands that this is a difficult time for Richardson and his family.”
Richardson was arrested and charged last week by Northeastern Regional Police with failing to report a sexual abuse incident that allegedly happened at Camp Spirit in July 2014.
