WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, Pa.-- The York Fairgrounds are once again home to the Street Rod Nationals East. More than 3,000 cars are expected to be part of the event this year.

"It just makes you want to live in that era again," Wendy Myers from York said.

She had her 1955 Chevy Bel Air at the parade and was part of the parade. Her and her husband both own classic cars.

"Just want to show her off and say look at my baby," Myers said.

The event is expected to bring about 20,000 people into the York area over the weekend. With that many people coming to the area, it's anticipated to be a big weekend for the local economy. For the York area, the event is expected to bring $13 million to the area just over the weekend.

"They're the funnest group of guys and girls that come into town," Coombs restaurant owner Theresa Marquette said.

Her and her husband own the restaurant. They see an economic impact each year as familiar faces return.

"It's amazing how much revenue they bring into our small town," Marquette said. "We need them. We enjoy them."

She said there is prep work to get the restaurant ready for the influx of people. They bring in more food, beer, and cocktails to keep up with demands.

"They're really part of our family, " York County Convention and Visitors Bureau President Anne Druck said. "They've been coming for 36 years so the cumulative effect of this one event is tremendous in our town."

Mother Nature is not playing nice for the event this weekend, as storms are expected to move through the area. Jim Rowlett, National Street Rod Association Marketing Director, said the event will go on rain or shine.

"I always tell folks that if it rains at night, it's just a complimentary car wash, so wipe your car off and go again," he said.

The gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
