DERRY TWP., Dauphin County, Pa. — The driver of a truck that struck a minivan on Hersheypark Drive in February, resulting in the deaths of two people in the minivan, has now been charged. Joseph Zucco, Jr., 61, of Sanford, Maine, is charged with 2 counts of Homicide by Vehicle, 2 counts of Involuntary Manslaughter, Traffic-Control Signals, and Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed. He was given $50,000 unsecured bail and a preliminary hearing date is set for July 14, 2016.

Zucco is charged in connection with a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Hersheypark Drive/Walton Avenue/Mae Street on February 2, 2016. Police say the bob-tail truck tractor Zucco was operating was traveling at an unsafe speed, failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with a mini-van. The driver, Julie Watson, 49, and a passenger, Watson’s father, George Storer, 83 died from injuries sustained from the crash.

The charges come after an extensive investigation by the Derry Township Police Department with assistance from the Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office.
