SALISBURY TWP, Lancaster, Pa- A Salisbury Township man is now in Lancaster County Court, regarding abuse of two infant twin girls.

Joshua B. Whisler, 23, is being charged with aggravated assault of children for beatings in March that caused injuries to his then 3 month-old girls, including a brain injury, broken ribs and a broken leg.

"The man that I thought I was going to spend my life, that I loved with everything, is the one that injured them," said the twins' mother Kayla Scheidt.

On March 18, staff at Children’s Hospital at Philadelphia contacted state police about one of the girls who had sustained a brain hemorrhage and broken ribs. The child was seizing when admitted to the hospital.

A day later, the other twin was admitted at the hospital for a broken left leg.

Whisler told police that he was caring for the girls when they were injured. The girls’ mother was at work. He told police he abused the girls, including slamming them both on a changing table.

Whisler “admitted to losing his temper with the two babies” when the abuse happened at a home along the 5400 block of Schlack Drive, police wrote in an affidavit.

"He admitted to a series of abuse with the kids of squeezing, slamming, essentially frustration during diaper changes. Just general caring for the infants and he'd have frustration on multiple days since February," said Brett Hambright the Spokesman for Lancaster County District Attorney's office.

Whisler, recently waived a preliminary hearing on the charges. He is currently in Lancaster County Prison on $2 million bail.

The infant girls are now in the care of their mother, Kayla Scheidt. They are both doing well and have recovered from their injuries.

"Besides going through all the trauma of knowing my daughter fought for her life and had to be in induced a coma because of the injuries, going to have the man that I was going to spend my life with being completely gone, to knowing he's the one that caused the injuries. It breaks your heart and it tears you down and it makes you not able to trust anybody," said Scheidt.
