LANCASTER, Pa.– A Denver man was sentenced to state prison on Friday for beating a 6-year-old girl in October, causing a brain bruise and other injuries.
Anthony Dickersheid will serve 2 to 4 years in prison according to his sentence.
Dickersheid pleaded guilty to a felony aggravated assault charge as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and endangering a child in exchange for the sentence.
In a police interview, Dickersheid admitted to beating the girl, who is his girlfriend’s daughter, inside a School Court home in October. At the time, he had sole custody of her. The girl told police that he threw her off a bed onto the floor.
The child’s mother told police that the girl wasn’t hurt before she left for work that night.
The girl suffered a brain bruise and bleeding in her brain, according to doctors who treated her at Hershey Medical Center. Those doctors opined that the injuries were not caused by an accident.
