LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A volunteer firefighter was injured battling a fire in a rental home in the 600 block of Anderson Ferry Road(Route 772) Monday evening. The fire broke out at about 9:18 p.m..

The fire started in an window air conditioning unit. Heavy smoke was reported by the first firefighters on the scene. The fire was under control in less than an hour but not before causing an estimated $45,000 in damage.

The firefighter was injured from a fall and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No word on his condition.

The fire has left three people homeless.
