YORK, Pa.– A North York man is under arrest after State Police say he struck a York City Police officer with his car while fleeing arrest in York Saturday night. police were attempting to take James Armentrout into custody in the parking lot of at 3rd Base Restaurant in the 500 block North George St. around 8:30 pm Saturday.
When Armentrout saw the officers, he tried to get away, striking one officer with his car and was driving toward another. At that point, the officers fired at the suspect and he took off into the city.

Armentrout, 43, then drove into West Manchester Township and abandoned his SUV near the intersection of Carlisle and Loucks Roads. Officers from several local departments arrived at the scene to help with the investigation. Blood and a shoe were found in the area, but the driver was gone. Armentrout was later located at Hanover Hospital where he was treated for his injury and afterwards taken into custody.

Pennsylvania State Police will now take over the investigation. The two York City Police officers involved in the initial shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Charges against Armentrout include Aggravated Assault, Fleeing and Eluding, and Driving Under Suspension.
