Car with multiple guns stopped en route to New York City

Police officers seized a trove of firearms on Tuesday after stopping a New York City-bound car at the Holland Tunnel, which runs under the Hudson River and connects New Jersey and Manhattan.

Officers searched the vehicle and found rifles and handguns, some of which were loaded. They also seized a helmet, knives, and ammunition. Police had initially stopped the car because of a cracked windshield, according to Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo.

Two men in their 50s and a woman in her 20s have been arrested on a “variety of charges related to illegal possession of guns and ammunition.”

The three are from Pennsylvania, Pentangelo said.

They are John Cramsey, 50; Dean Smith, 53, both of Zionsville; and Kimberly Arendt, 29, of Lehighton.

According to WNEP they allegedly drove from Pennsylvania to try to rescue a 16-year-old Wilkes-Barre girl from a so-called heroin den in New York City.

The girl that police say they went to rescue, Jenea Patterson, lived in Wilkes-Barre, and se is familiar to police there.

Last year her mother told authorities that Patterson was abducted at gunpoint in front of her own home, but the teenage girl would not cooperate with law enforcement.
