UPDATE: Driver identified in fatal Interstate 83 crash in York

YORK PA- The York County Coroner has released the name of the driver involved in the fatal Thursday afternoon crash.

The accident happened near the Loganville Exit 10 just after 6:00 p.m. 34-year-old Jonathan Shanberger, of Fawn Grove, lost control of his car, which caused him to be thrown from the vehicle as it rolled multiple times.

Shanberger was the only occupant in the vehicle, officials said.

According to the York County Coroners office, Shanberger did not appear to be restrained. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There will be no autopsy, cause of death is accidental with multiple blunt force trauma. His family has been notified.

State police are investigating the crash.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash involving multiple vehicle crash involving ejection at exit 10 of Interstate 83 southbound, just south of Loganville in Springfield Township.  It happened just after 6 o’clock this evening.

A helicopter has also been summoned to the scene. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
