YORK, Pa. - Just one look at Hunter Leisenring and you can tell that the 16-year-old is a special guy.

"He's never sad, he's always happy, he's touched so many people's lives," Yvette Leisenring, Hunter's mom, said. "Somebody can be having a totally bad day and meet Hunter and he just brightens their day right from the door."

He's had to overcome a lot after suffering shaken baby syndrome when he was two.

"He has beaten all odds that the doctors expected," Yvette says.

But it's a condition that has confined him to a wheelchair and, given what most kids his age get to do, does not allow him to operate a car or motorcycle.

Yvette recently went on Facebook to ask people to send her son birthday cards and shared his love of motorcycles. That soon escalated to a motorcycle parade Friday night he will never forget.

"We want to put a smile on his face, the biggest smile, the best birthday that he will ever remember," motorcyclist Ron Etheridge said.

Hundreds of motorcyclists from here and several neighboring states met in York to surprise Hunter with a parade of their bikes. They sang "Happy Birthday," brought Hunter several presents, including a leather vest of his own, and took him for a motorcycle ride around town.

"I see how the biker community pulls together for things like this, for the veterans, for the children, anybody in the community that needs help, I'm use to this, these bikers just pull together all the time and they come from everywhere to do it too," Larry Julius, of the American Legion Riders, said.

Hunter and his family could not have been happier.

"People donating food, to people donating their time to come out and support a child that could never ride a motorcycle or drive a car of his own, it's amazing." Yvette said.
