James Stavridis has been floated as a potential running mate for Hillary Clinton, but the retired four-star Navy admiral thinks that might be a problem for campaign merchandise.

“I think that with a name like ‘Stavridis,’ it’s going to be just too hard to fit on a bumper sticker,” Stavridis told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” Monday. “So I think probably the best thing to do is ask the Clinton campaign that question, not me.”

Reports emerged last week that Clinton’s campaign was vetting Stavridis, who currently serves as dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, among others, is also said to be in the running to join Clinton’s ticket.

The former secretary of state has kept her veep pick a closely guarded secret — a far cry from Donald Trump, whose selection process unfolded in the public eye, at times mirroring a reality television competition.

Clinton is leaning toward announcing her running mate shortly following the GOP convention ends on Thursday, though aides have suggested she might wait until after the Democratic convention begins next week before announcing her choice.
