ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - On an average day about fifty seniors head to the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center. When it is hot even more people come in. It is free and they have extended their hours so people can be out of the heat longer.

"I don't like it. I stay inside," Evelyn McCloskey, 97-years-old.

Pre-school age kids joined the seniors for lunch Friday. On the placemats were tips on how to stay cool including drinking plenty of water, eating foods that contain water and staying indoors.

"We do a lot of education. We talk about it. How you're going to spend your weekend. What you're not going. We don't want you outside. We don't want you in the garden," said Joyce Hardman, Elizabethtown Area Senior Center.

The center is closed on weekends, but will be open this Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 8:00pm.
