YORK, Pa.– People who live and work in the city of York were out and about on Saturday to celebrate the city’s 275th birthday.

Hundreds turned out for the milestone celebration in the middle of West Market Street. They enjoyed a family-style sit-down lunch at one large table.
First dibs went to those who got special golden tickets that were found inside Wolfgang candy bars that were sold ahead of the event.
York Mayor Kim Bracey was happy with the turnout.

“This is the biggest event so far, a partnership with the neighborhood association here, several of the merchants, just good old Yorkers as you can see here. We’re having a BBQ party, chicken and cake for everyone that comes by,” Mayor Bracey said.

This is one of the many events the city has planned to celebrate this very special year. The next event is “Colonial Day” which will take place next Saturday, July 30th.
