County municipalities with burn bans in effect

CUMBERLAND COUNTY –

  • Southhampton Township: Burn ban is in effect in Southampton Township until further notice.
  •  North Newton Township: Burn ban is in effect in North Newton Township until further notice.
  • South Middleton Township: Burn ban is in effect in South Middleton Township until further notice.

YORK COUNTY –

  • Conewago Township has instituted a total burn ban.  The burn ban is effective immediately and will continue until further notice.
  • Hellam Township: Burn ban in effect due to hot, dry conditions.
  • Lower Windsor Township has instituted a burn ban due to the extended dry conditions, high temperatures, and accompanying risk of fire.

The burn ban will be in effect until conditions improve. During the ban, residents are prohibited from any type of open burning. Residents with questions should contact Craley Fire Company at (717) 244-1999.

*Springfield Township: Burn ban in effect due to hot, dry conditions.

  • Paradise Township: Burn ban in effect due to hot, dry conditions.
  • West Manchester Township: Effective July 25 at 3:00 pm West Manchester Township instituted an Open Burn Ban Township wide.

Any and all open burning is prohibited until such time as the Open Burn Ban is lifted. This means that no burning in fire pits, chimneys, or similar devices will be allowed.

There will also be no permits issued for Open Burning regardless of the circumstances.

Any and all questions regarding the Open Burn Ban can be directed to the Office of the Fire Chief at (717) 792-3505.

  • Windsor Township: Effective immediately no person shall ignite or feed an open fire, nor shall any person cause, suffer, allow or permit an open fire on any property under his or her control within Windsor Township. The fire emergency shall remain in effect until the danger no longer exists and has been declared at an end by the Township Manager. Any person observing an outdoor fire is urged to immediately call 911 and report the location.
