WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD – An 81 year old Harrisburg woman and an 82 year old York man were killed in a one vehicle crash Thursday morning in Washington County, Maryland. It happened at about 8 a.m. in the area of Maugans Avenue at I-81.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says a Nissan Versa, traveling southbound on I-81, exited I-81 onto Maugans Avenue, struck the median and proceeded to flip onto its passenger side, coming to a rest in the grass area between the on-ramp for I-81 southbound and Shawley Drive.
The vehicle was occupied by 3 individuals. It is believed the driver of the vehicle, Doris Neely, of Harrisburg, suffered a medical emergency which lead to the collision.
Neely, was transported to Meritus Medical Center where she later died. The front-seat passenger, identified as James Edward Ransome, of York, was pronounce dead at the scene. The backseat passenger, a 24 year old woman, was transported to Meritus Medical Center for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
