Dozens of cattle killed when truck overturns in Dauphin County

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – Up to 30 cattle were either killed out right or were euthanized after a tractor trailer overturned on the southbound Route 283 ramp onto I-283, the Eisenhower Boulevard in Lower Swatara Township.

cattleimg_CCTV-18_283-1_mpu001_ch0It happened at about 1:38 p.m. There were more than 100 cattle being transported. The driver of the big rig escaped serious injury. The ramp was shutdown for hours while emergency crews rounded up several cattle that escaped from the wreckage and to remove the cattle that remained inside the trailer.

The accident is being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
