EAST DONEGAL TWP., Pa. -- A thunderstorm that swept across Central Pennsylvania Tuesday brought with it strong winds. Those winds brought down parts of trees onto mobile homes in Lancaster County.

David Stroup was standing inside the enclosed porch of his mobile home on Kline Road when he saw a storm rolling in from across a field.

"It hit that fast and that hard that I couldn't see for a few seconds because of the rain and the wind," Stroup said.

He then saw trees starting to sway.

Stroup said, "That's when I heard the crash outside with the branch that came down with the tree."

He said one of the large branches that fell came from a tree that was a sapling when he moved into the neighborhood 45 years ago.

"The branch was on the side the way the wind was blowing and it just took it literally off the tree into my neighbor's home over there. He's got a big hole on the side," he said.

No one was hurt but five homes were hit by branches - two now have damaged roofs. Five cars were also hit.

Stroup said although the cleanup won't be easy, the community is coming together to help out.

"All the neighbors, we don't know each other that well here. We keep to ourselves pretty much but everyone was out checking on everybody else. That's a neighborly thing to do."

Many people in the area were without power for almost 3 hours after the storm passed through.
