CHRISTIANA, Pa. -- East Lampeter Township and state police are looking for an armed robbery suspect who they say robbed a Zales Outlet store in Lancaster County.

At around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to an armed robbery at the jewelry store in East Lampeter Township.

Witnesses said a man with his face covered entered the store with a gun.

Strasburg Police saw a suspect matching the description of the robber driving through the borough.

Lt. Rob Eachus with East Lampeter Township Police said, "The vehicle was pursued down to Christiana Borough and it was subsequently dumped. The suspect had fled into a wooded section."

People who live off of South Bridge Street in Christiana said those woods are a good place for someone to hide.

Mary Powell, who lives off of Bridge Street, said, "It's really thick through there. There's an awful lot of corn and weeds that are oh six feet, seven feet high. He could hide in there for quite a while."

A state police helicopter and K-9 units patrolled the area, but said they did not catch the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a 20-30-year-old man, short with a stocky build, with short hair. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and shorts. They say he is still armed with a handgun.

Eachus said, "People should be diligent. I wouldn't leave your cars unlocked even in your driveway or garage. Keep your doors certainly locked even if you're just going to be outside during gardening. It's always best to leave your doors locked while you're away from your home."

If you see anyone matching the suspect's description, police are asking you to call 911.
