EPHRATA, Pa.– A Lebanon man is facing Animal Cruelty charges, after police say he left a dog under a tarp in the bed of his truck.
On Saturday, authorities say a witness called police in Ephrata, Lancaster County to the 1700-block of West Main Street, claiming there was a dog in distress in the bed of a pick-up truck.
Police say an investigation revealed that 20-year-old Justin Martin was transporting the dog for a relative, but forgot the dog was in the bed of his truck when he went in a store for about 45-minutes.
Police say they tried to cool the dog down, and took to the animal to a veterinary clinic, but it later died.
Martin has been charged with Animal Cruelty and will receive a court summons.
