SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa.– Police have arrested a man who led them on a chase on Interstate 83 early Friday morning.

Matthew Liddick, 29, of Booser Avenue in Harrisburg, is facing charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment of another person and other related charges after he led police on a chase.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop after he observed Liddick commit a violation in the 2200 block of Paxton Street. After shining his emergency lights and siren, the officer pursued Liddick as he failed to yield, and led the officer onto Interstate 83 traveling southbound.

Two officers pursued Liddick in marked cars, with the chase ending when he collided with the guide rail near the 581 split. Liddick exited the car and attempted to flee the officers on foot, only to be taken into custody a short distance away.

Upon his arrest, officers found that Liddick had a crack pipe in his pocket, and he told officers that he fled because he had an active warrant.

An adult female passenger in Liddick’s vehicle was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
