YORK, Pa.– Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man at a boarding house.
Officers responded at about 1:30 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 600 block of West King Street. The decedent has been identified as 66-year-old Terry Leonard.
Police have given no details about the death, and there are many unanswered questions surrounding Leonard’s death from his family.
“He was a good guy,” Carroll Leonard, Terry’s brother, said Friday afternoon. “He was a very good guy. He didn’t bother anybody [sic]. I used to come over all the time and see him, make sure he’s okay.”
So far there is no word on who reported finding the body. Police remained on the scene for several hours collecting evidence.
Carroll Leonard says his brother was an amputee who lost his leg to diabetes years ago, and he would check in on his brother to make sure other tenants would not take advantage of his disability.
“I come through here a lot,” Carroll Leonard said. “There’s nothing but a bunch of drugs and everything else that goes on there, prostitution, everything else in there.”
Now, Carroll says he is hoping his brother’s living situation did not result in his death.
“I used to tell him all the time, he needs to get out of this house because this isn’t the best place to be living at,” Carroll Leonard said. “He kept telling me, okay, okay, okay, and I went and got him applications for different places to move to, but he never followed through on it.”
An autopsy has been scheduled at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Saturday to determine the exact cause of Leonard’s death.
