HANOVER, Pa.--  Some people in York County spent their Sunday tasting some award-winning chili at the 21st Annual Hanover Chili Cook Off. It took place at the Good Field Complex on North Forney Avenue. There were about 30 chili competitors at the event, along with several non-chili food vendors.

"We've had salsa here for the past two years, so we're here competing again. All of the chili that we cook and serve to the public goes to charity, all of the money stays in the local area. Last year, this one day event raised $60,000," says Mike Singleton, of Dirt Digger Chili in Hadlock, NC.

"It really does benefit our local community but as well, it really does give us something to look forward to every year. We get to do something competitive with our time and we just really enjoy it," says Deirdre Chronister, representing Pirates of the Chilibbean.

Awards were given out in several chili categories, including Best Red Chili, Best Chili Verde and Best Salsa. There were also activities for kids and adults too, like face painting, caricatures, jugglers and live music.
