LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – Millersville has been ranked as the 22nd safest college town in all of America. The Lancaster County borough with a population of 7,700 is home to Millersville University. The sprawling 245 acre campus is home to 8,400 graduate and post graduate students.
The internet site SafeWise examined the most recent FBI crime statistics and identified safety-related programs and initiatives in college cities across the country to determine the listings.
On top of 24/7 patrols and duties like traffic management, Millersville University police provide robust resources for sexual and dating violence awareness and support. There is a sexual assault advocate on campus, as well as a confidential dating and domestic violence advocate. The police department also provides education about sexual and dating violence to increase awareness and incident prevention.
Millersville University is one of 14 colleges that comprise the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education(PASSHE). Three other college towns in the system are ranked higher than Millersville. Slippery Rock in Butler County is ranked 15th, Edinboro in Erie County is ranked 17th and Clarion in Clarion County is ranked 20th.
