Heat, humidity, and thunderstorm chances begin the weekend

The York Fair gets a hot and steamy start with an isolated thunderstorm possible.

A few spotty thunderstorms pop up Friday afternoon and evening.

HOT & HUMID/T’STORMS: A cold front is slowly drifting south this this morning, and it keeps the chance for some showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon. An isolated shower or two is possible this morning, otherwise expect hazy sunshine. Conditions are stuffy and warm too. Temperatures jump back into the lower 90s for many. The uncomfortable humidity remains in place as well. The front dissolves as it tries to move through, but it could still trigger a few spotty showers or thunderstorms for the afternoon.

Humidity levels and temperatures drop to more comfortable levels on Sunday.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: The heat and humidity continue into the first half of the weekend. Highs are quite hot, in the lower to middle 90s. Heat indices are near 100 at times during peak heating. An approaching cold front brings the chance for some 3day_highslate day and evening showers and thunderstorms. Relief arrives in the wake of the cold front on Sunday. Cooler and less humid air works in through the day. It’s sunny, with temperatures still above seasonable averages, in the middle 80s.

NOT AS HOT: Plenty of sunshine remains for early next week. The humidity remains at comfortable levels Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures still run a bit above seasonable averages for this time of year. Expect afternoon high temperatures in the lower to middle 80s. Wednesday a shower or thunderstorm is possible. As sunshine returns in time for Thursday, temperatures drop to more seasonable levels.

Have a great weekend!
