WEST YORK, Pa. -- Dozens of people gathered at the Reliance Fire Hall in west York to remember the lives lost on 9/11.

Attendees thanked local firefighters and held lit candles.

Borough officials talked about where they were on Sept. 11, 2001 and how the events of that day affected the families of those who were killed.

They said this isn't the only time of year where people should remember and honor the victims.

Shawn Mauck, West York Borough council president, said, "This is about us coming together as a community again to remember something that's going to permanently stay forever cemented in our hearts."

Officials are hoping to have another 9/11 vigil next year.
