SAVILLE TWP., Perry County, Pa. — A man tried to rob the FBF Convenience Store on Veterans Way with what appeared to be an axe handle. It happened on Friday, September 9th. Witnesses say a dirty, disheveled man entered the store around 9:57pm. He walked up to a clerk and grabbed her hand, while carrying the supposed axe handle. He told the clerk he wanted money. Another clerk entered the store from a back room, at which time the suspect said he wasn’t going to hurt anyone, but he wanted the drop bags. The second clerk hit the store’s panic alarm and told the suspect police were on their way. He tried to exit the front door but couldn’t get out. The clerk advised him to take the back door, which he did and was reportedly spotted heading towards State Route 17 a short time later.

The suspect is described as white male in his mid 30’s-40’s, about 6′ tall with dark hair and a thin build. Witnesses say he had long, unkempt fingernails as well.

Anyone with information is asked to call PSP Newport at 717-567-3110 or Perry County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-210-8477.
