PA State Budget is Signed by Governor Corbett

HARRISBURG, Pa.– The Governor’s Cabinet for People with Disabilities today announced the opening of registration for the Pennsylvania Disability Employment & Empowerment Summit (PADES) on October 17 and 18, 2016, in Erie. Each year, PADES moves to a different location in the state to highlight regions and give attendees a chance to experience a new venue.

The summit brings together employers, people with disabilities, and related government agencies to engage in this year’s national disability employment awareness theme, #Inclusion Works, through presentations and discussions on work-based learning experiences for students that target access to career pathways, information and trends on PA high-demand occupations, advancements in adaptive technology, no-cost on-boarding supports to insure employment success, and making state government responsive to the needs of businesses and workers with disabilities.

Other important topics to be presented across both days include: school-to-work transition innovation, employment rules when hiring youth, trends in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and agricultural careers. There will be guest speakers, breakout sessions, a job fair, and much more at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie.

Pennsylvania employers will learn the benefits of hiring qualified individuals with disabilities who can add value to their organization and business bottom line. Employers can network with peers that recruit and hire individuals with disabilities. All employers participating in the job fair will have opportunities to conduct interviews with pre-screened job candidates.

Online participant registration is available here and is $20 for the two-day event. Exhibitor registration is available here and is $200. The exhibitor registration provides a space for October 17 and 18. If you have any questions about registration or need assistance registering, please contact pades@tiu11.org. Registration will continue through September 30.
