CAMP HILL, CUMBERLAND COUNTY -- Wounded veterans were honored at an annual gala hosted by the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Project on Saturday.

The gala included a military themed dinner, dancing, a stay at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill and breakfast.

53 wounded soldiers attended the event, each having received a Purple Heart for their service. All of the veterans were injured during combat. Event organizers say they deserve to be honored.

"Those who risk their lives in combat in the defense of our nation deserve a place of honor above all others in our society, for their courage has made everything possible for us. So with that in mind is the reason we honor them the way we do," Helen Sajer, President of the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Project said.

The Wounded Warriors Project helps returning veterans with services such as financial assistance with housing, utilities, and home or vehicle repairs, as well as medical and educational expenses.
