Stolen gun found, man arrested after report of shots fired in Lebanon
LEBANON, Pa.–A Lebanon man was arrested Tuesday and a stolen gun was recovered after reports of shots fired in Lebanon city.
Frank Estrada-Vargas, 50, is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, recklessly endangering another person, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, disorderly conduct, carrying a loaded weapon in vehicle and discharging a firearm.
Officers responded to the 400 block of North 9th Street on Tuesday for reports of shots fired around 5:35 p.m..
According to police reports, Estrada-Vargas, recognized a man on the sidewalk and stopped his vehicle to assault him. During the assault, police say Estrada-Vargas fired off shots.
No one was hurt.
Estrada-Vargas then discarded the gun and fled the scene in a vehicle. Witnesses helped police identify Estrada-Vargas as the suspect and pointed authorities to where the gun was tossed.
Investigators say the gun was reported stolen in 2010 out of Lehigh County.
Estrada-Vargas was later arrested and taken to Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
