STILL SUMMERLIKE: We start fall with highs 10 degrees above average in the mid 80s. Enjoy sunny skies and low humidity. The humidity comes back tomorrow as highs climb to the upper 80s. A few spots in Franklin, Adams, Lancaster, and York Counties will even see a 90! It will feel like the low 90s for everyone because of the humidity.

FALL EXPLAINED: Did you know that air where we live gets warmed directly by the ground? The sun heats the ground, and then the ground heats the air. The more direct sunlight we get, the warmer the ground gets, and then the warmer our air gets. In the summer, we get a lot of direct sunlight because the United States is tilted toward the sun. By fall, we are less titled toward the sun. The first day of fall signifies when sunlight is evenly split north and south of the Equator. By winter, we're tilted away from the sun. This causes us to get much less sunlight, which means the ground gets less heat and won't warm our air as much.
