Man breaks into ex’s apartment, assaults her



NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — New Holland Police arrest a man for forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulting her last night. It happened just after midnight at 146 E Franklin St Apt 311 for a domestic in progress. Police say Derrick D Mitchell, 27, homeless, had come to the residence of his ex girlfriend. Mitchell allegedly forced his way in to the apartment and grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the neck and held her on the floor. Mitchell was told numerous times to leave and refused. Upon forcing his way in to the apartment, Mitchell pushed the door open causing the door to cut his ex girlfriend’s foot.

Mitchell fled the area prior to police arrival. Police spoke to Mitchell via phone and he turned himself in at New Holland Police Department.

Mitchell was charged with Simple Assault, Harassment and Defiant Trespassing.

He was taken to Lancaster County Central Arraignment where he is currently awaiting arraignment.
