MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Middletown Police Department say a burglar entered a home Friday morning in the 500 block of Laurel Ave.

The suspect broke into a basement window around 2 am, and was interrupted by the resident, according to police. Officers think he was attempting to steal copper pipes and did not know anyone was home.

The suspect is described as a white or light-skinned man, about 5″11″ tall, thin build. He was wearing dark pants, a blue sweatshirt and a ballcap. The victim told police the suspect was wearing a carpenter’s tool belt.

Residents are urged to dissuade realtors from placing signs on properties they intend to sell, and be watchful for anyone around houses that are vacant or for sale near their homes, police report. Call police immediately if any suspicious persons are seen in neighborhoods late at night.
