YORK, Pa.– The York County Coroner has ruled the death of a man, who was fleeing from police after a hit-and-run, as accidental.

The coroner’s office said Saturday that Carl Snellings died from blunt force trauma to the chest. The manner of death was ruled accidental.

State Police in York County are handling the investigation. They say around 11:15 Thursday night, York City Police officers attempted to stop a pickup wanted in connection to an earlier hit-and-run in the city. The driver, 51-year old Carl Snellings,  of York, sped away as the officers got out of their car. Police followed and Snellings crashed the truck near the intersection of Pleasant Way and McKenzie Street. Snellings was ejected from the truck and died at the scene.
