EPHRATA, Pa. - For the last seven years a "Blue" mass has been held at Our Mother Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata. The mass serves to celebrate all first responders, pray for their safety and honor those killed in the line of duty.  The Ephrata Knights of Columbus, Police Department and the Church put together the mass.

"They put their life on the line for us on a daily basis, they sacrifice quite a bit for us. this is our way of reaching out and saying we have their back," said Father John Mcloughlin,  Pastor at Mother of Perpetual Help.

"In today's world where, you know, some people don't want to be supportive of emergency responders, this one gives us the blessing to go forward to the next year. We're still going to the gunfire, we're still going to the fire, we're still going to protect those we swore to upkeep," said Bill Harvey, Chief of Police.

The mass especially honored those first responders killed in 2016.
