YORK TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, Pa.-- A car slammed into a home around 9:30 Wednesday morning, according to officials. York Area Regional Police said the driver suffered a medical episode and crashed the car into 225 Leader Heights Road. The car came in through the home's bay window into its living room.

Officials said there was a driver and passenger in the car. The driver was taken to York Hospital and the passenger refused treatment.

Fire officials said, the car hit a fragile part of the home, minimizing injuries.

"There was just  a lot of glass," York Firefighter Lieutenant Matt Leonard said. "It was able to dissipate the energy."

The homeowner said she and her husband were at work already when the crash happened.

"Usually this morning, he would have been back here and sitting in his other chair, not in the living room but right next to it, but he wasn't thank goodness," she said.

The homeowner asked to not be identified. She said she and her husband had just remodeled the home.

"I had blinds and one other thing to do, but everything was brand new," she said. "It's a little devastating."

She said they have insurance, but don't know the cost for the repairs.

"Despite how it looks, the damage appears to be minor, structurally at least," Leonard said. "The vehicle did partially go through the house through a bay window that was already there."

The homeowners have a pet dog that was able to make it out of the home safe.
