Officials don't yet know how long it will take to repair the Hoboken train station or resume New Jersey Transit train service there, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. However, Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH) trains will resume service through Hoboken on Thursday afternoon, officials said. Engineers determined that the structural integrity of the potion of the station that serves PATH trains "is fine," New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said. New Jersey Transit will expand bus service and other rail operations to help compensate while NJT cannot operate trains at the Hoboken station, officials said.

Thursday's train crash in Hoboken, New Jersey, is an "extraordinary tragedy," Gov. Chris Christie said. He gave this description: "The train came in at a high rate of speed into the station and crashed through all the barriers, bringing it right to the interior wall of the .. terminal."

One person was killed and 108 people were injured in Thursday's train crash in Hoboken, New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie said. The engineer was "critically injured" and is receiving care at a hospital. The engineer is cooperating with law enforcement officials, Christie said.

The person killed in Thursday's train crash in Hoboken was standing on the platform when the train came into the station, according to two officials briefed on the matter. The train engineer, who an official said earlier was unresponsive when removed from the train, is now hospitalized, according to the two officials.

All passengers trapped on the train that crashed in Hoboken have been removed and taken to two local hospitals, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is launching an investigation into Thursday morning's New Jersey train crash, an NTSB official told CNN.

HOBOKEN, N.J. - A New Jersey Transit train has crashed into a platform in Hoboken during Thursday morning's rush-hour commute.

CNN is reporting that Initial reports from the Hoboken train crash indicate more than 100 people injured and 1 dead, according to an emergency responder monitoring the situation.

Images posted on social media showed severe structural damage at the terminal -- a major transit hub -- and part of the roof appeared to have collapsed, according to WPIX.

New Jersey Transit confirmed the crash on its Twitter account.

Social media posts claimed a train had crashed into a station platform, and images showed debris strewn about the station. One post indicated part of the station's roof collapsed.
