YORK CITY, Pa.–A man is behind bars after police say he shot his girlfriend in York City on Wednesday.

Timothy Williams, 54, of York, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of firearm prohibited. He was arraigned Wednesday and taken to York County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Officers responded to 829 West Princess Street for a shooting around 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Police arrived at the scene and found Williams’ girlfriend in the street with a gunshot wound to  her leg, according to the criminal complaint. The woman told police she was involved in an argument with Williams. During the argument Williams pulled out a gun and chased her around the apartment, according to court documents. The woman told investigators she ran outside when Williams threatened to shoot her.

The woman ran around a vehicle and tried to hide. Williams went outside and fired one round into the air, one round into the car and his third shot struck the woman in her left leg, just above the knee, court documents state.

Williams fled the scene and was taken into custody a short time later by an officer with West Manchester Township Police in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

According to court documents, Williams is a convicted felon with a criminal past and isn’t allowed to possess a firearm.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct 12.
