Steelton Police: Wanted sexual assault suspect arrested and charged


Manuel Ramirez, who had fled the Harrisburg area, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Steelton Police Department in September 2015 began an investigation of a sexual assault in the 400 block of Swatara Street, according to a police report. Officers did not at that time obtain a warrant for Ramirez’s arrest. He was able to flee Harrisburg.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, New York State Police and Allentown Police, detectives on Tuesday, Sept. 20 were able to arrest Ramirez. He was arrested on charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child less than 13-years-old, indecent assault of a child less than 13-years-old, and indecent assault with the consent of others.

Ramirez was taken to the Dauphin County Judicial Center, where he was arraigned and placed in the Dauphin County Prison on $50,000 bail, police said. He was charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault – less than 13; Indecent Assault – less than 13; and Indecent Assault – without consent of others, Steelton Borough Police Department reported.
