The spokesperson for State Senator Daylin Leach says allegations that the senator’s daughter’s question to Hillary Clinton at a town hall meeting Tuesday was ‘staged’ and are ‘ vile and disgusting.’

Brennan Leach, 15, asked the first question of the event in Haverford, Pa. She wanted Clinton’s thoughts on body image in light of some recent comments made by  Donald Trump about women’s looks.

“At my school, body image is a really big issue for girls my age,” said Leach, whose father is State Sen. Daylin Leach. “I see with my own eyes the damage Donald Trump does when he talks about women and how they look. How can you help girls understand that they are so much more than just what they look like?”

The question received applause at the event and praise from Clinton for asking it. Clinton told the girl that it was “shocking” to see women get called names and judged “solely on the basis of physical attributes.” She told her to remember that women are “more than the way you look.”

But since then, the question has been a source of controversy, as critics allege the question was an example of Clinton planting questions at her events. The allegations have been making the rounds on social media and was a segment on “The Kelly File” on Fox News. Steve Hoenstine, Leach’s Director of Communications says it is insulting that people are insinuating Brennan Leach wasn’t capable of crafting the question herself. He says she is bright and passionate about politics.

“She wrote the question, got to ask it to Hillary Clinton and she answered it. It was a great moment for her. And since then this 15 year-old girl has been the subject of vile attacks, thousands of them. It’s disgusting.”

On “The Kelly File,” Trace Gallagher said that Clinton was previously caught planting questions during her run for Senate in 1999 and her run for the White House in 2007.
