LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.,-- The state's Auditor General will begin an audit Tuesday of Manheim Township School District.

Eugene DePasquale and his department will begin their investigation of the school district after his department received several complaints from residents regarding concerns over the financial and management operations within the district, as well as concerns over transparency.

The department will review a number of areas, which may include financial stability, school safety, hiring practices, the Sunshine Act and Ethics Act compliance and governance.

The audit will cover a 3-year period from July 2013 to June 2016.

In response to the audit, the school district released the following statement:

"MTSD was informed this past summer that the Auditor General's office will be conducting a regular performance audit of our district sometime this fall, so we were not surprised to learn that the auditors will be visiting our district this week.  We have been working hard to gather all requested information for their arrival on Wednesday.   We are optimistic and feel positive that we have everything in place to answer any questions, and to provide the auditors with what they need to complete the performance audit."
