SPRING GARDEN TOWNSHIP, PA. -   Penn State University is celebrating the opening of a brand new student center on its York campus.  The Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center opened Wednesday afternoon.  The 35,000-square-foot building cost $13.5 million to construct, and features renovated dining and workout areas.  The school says the new building will also allow for off-season practice by athletic teams.

"I'm looking most forward to  having another space to retreat to after class and get stuff done," said Luke Marsiglia, a junior from Fawn Grove. "I'll be able to eat on campus now, and have a fun space to relax and kick back in between a stressful school schedule."

But Marsiglia isn't just excited about being able to use the new building -- he also helped construct it!  He's an electro-mechanical engineering student, who served his internship with one of the companies responsible for building the new student center.

The original student center on the Penn State York campus first opened in 1968.
